Welcome from our Board President

The Boulder Friends of Jung was founded as a non-profit volunteer organization on December 19, 2005 under the laws of the State of Colorado. The purpose of this educational organization is to provide informational and participatory programs oriented to the depth psychology of Carl Jung as it relates to personal development and contemporary society.

The BFJ logo features the symbol of the uroboros, the snake that eats its own tail. “In the age old image of the uroboros lies the thought of devouring oneself and turning oneself into a circulatory process, for it was clear to the most astute alchemists that the prima materia of the art was man himself. The uroboros is a dramatic symbol for the integration and assimilation of the opposite, i.e., of the shadow. This ‘feed-back’ process is at the same time a symbol of immortality, since it is said of the uroboros that he slays himself and brings himself to life, fertilizes himself and gives birth to himself. He symbolizes the One, who proceeds from the clash of opposites, and he therefore constitutes the secret of the prima materia which, as a projection, unquestionably stems from man’s unconscious.” (C. On behalf of BFJ’s Board of Directors, I want to extend an invitation to you to review our website and join us at one of our upcoming community events listed here. BFJ is a group of folks who have found the ideas of CG Jung to be meaningful and useful tools to help us navigate in a world that is filled with distractions.  Jung believed that living a conscious life is a journey toward wholeness and we can learn much from each other along the way.  Whether you are familiar with Jung’s psychology or are simply curious about it, we invite you to attend one of our programs, lectures or book discussion groups to learn more and to engage with others.
